ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Chowan Swimming teams opened up their shortened 2020-21 season at Conference Carolinas Preseason favorites, Barton, on the road on Saturday.

INSIDE THE LANES
Jersey Razzano posted two strong races in the 1000 and 500 Free posting the second best times in program history. Ashley Mayes also had two fast times with a near school record and posting the second best times in program history in the 100 and 200 Fly.
HOW IT HAPPENED
200 Medley Relay:
For the women, Chowan finished third overall with a time of 1:59.87. Grace Arredondo, Jeleah Delancy, Jasmine Gibson, and Ashley Mayes competed for the Hawks.
The men also finished third with a time of 1:44.01. Andrew Simmons, Lucas Pels, David Clark, and James Cameron swam for the Hawks.
1000 Free:
Jersey Razzano finished second in the event with a time of 11:26.16 for the second best time in program history. Atar Idrissi and Anquniece Wheeler finished third and fourth respectively.
Igor Proszynski finished second on the men's side with a time of 10:45.06.
200 Free:
Grace Arredondo and Brinna Houlahan finished third and fourth respectively in the event.
David Clark, Lucas Pels, and Tristan Stinson finished 3rd-5th respectively.
100 Back:
Atar Idrissi finished third in the event with a time of 1:13.40. James Cameron was the top finisher for the Hawks in fourth with a time of 59.64.
100 Breast:
MacKenzie Lucy touched the wall at 1:20.92, while Erin Garza and Jeleah Delancy touched at 1:21.22 and 1:21.33 respectively.
Marshall Stevens finished fourth after clocking a time of 1:05.55.
200 Fly:
Ashley Mayes was just off the school record time in the event with a time of 2:21.33 as Mayes finished second. Shaine Olmstead finished third with a time of 2:06.89.
100 Free:
Grace Arredondo touched the wall at 57.80 to finish third overall. David Clark clocked a time of 52.04 to finish fourth.
200 Back:
Igor Proszynski broke the school record in the event with a time of 2:06.71.
200 Breast:
Lucas Pels touched the wall second in the event with a time of 2:25.82.
500 Free:
Jersey Razzano produced the second best time in program history in the event with a time of 5:38.65 to finish second overall.
100 Fly:
Ashley Mayes took home the win in the event with the second best finish in program history with a time of 59.86. Shaine Olmstead posted a time of 56.70 for the sixth best time in program history.
400 Free Relay:
Chowan's women finished third in the event touching the wall at 3:55.37. The men also finished third with a time of 3:26.20.
