FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Baseball team mustered three hits in a 9-2 midweek loss to Francis Marion on Tuesday evening.

Noah Cartwright went 2-3 in the contest to lead the Hawks. Patrick Krack tallied two walks.
Trenton Lee and Jack Kane picked up one hit each. Brendon Grant recorded a RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jack Kane started off the rally in the top of the second inning with a double to right center. Patrick Krack drew a walk before Noah Cartwright picked up a single to left center. The throw from the outfield allowed Kane to score and Cartwright to advance to second. Brendon Grant picked up a RBI ground out to put the Hawks up 2-0.
Francis Marion picked up a run in the bottom of the inning on a lead-off double and a pair of fly outs to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Patriots evened the score in the bottom of the fourth inning before taking the lead in the fifth, 3-2.
Noah Cartwright picked up a single in the fifth as the only base runner in the middle innings.
The Patriots pushed their lead to 8-2 in the sixth off two hits and an error.
Patrick Krack drew a lead-off walk to start the seventh inning but would be wiped away on the double play.
FMU tacked on a run in the eighth to take the victory 9-2.
