Trevena Goes Deep In Loss To Patriots

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Baseball teams couldn't get the bats going in the final game of the series against Francis Marion on Wednesday afternoon on the road.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Dallas Trevena picked up two of the three hits for the Hawks including his first career home run.

Noah Evington recorded the other hit for the Hawks.  Jared Fry added a walk.

Francis Marion recorded 17 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Francis Marion started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with three runs off four hits and an error.

The Patriots extended their lead to 8-0 in the third inning.  Noah Evington picked up the first hit for the Hawks in the top of the fourth inning.  Jared Fry drew a full count walk but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning.

FMU tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead 12-0.  Noah Cartwright was hit by a pitch in the fifth before the Patriots pushed their advantage to 16-0.

Dallas Trevena put the Hawks on the board in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run to left field.  FMU responded with a pair in the bottom of the inning to lead 18-1.

Hunter Kinion reached on an error before a fielder's choice by Joe Nelms and an infield single by Dallas Trevena put a runner in scoring position.  A strikeout ended the contest.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns home to take on Barton in a Conference Carolinas series on Friday, March 13.  First pitch is slated for 2pm.
