MURFREESBORO, N.C. – On a rain drenched home opener, the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team fell to Coker, 16-6, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Noah Holloway and Austin Lee tallied two goals each. Jackson Downs registered a goal while Jaxon Martin posted two assists.
Russell Robinson picked up 15 saves in goal. Matthew Leone and Patrick Egan posted five ground balls each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Deven Roberts registered the first shot for the Hawks but was denied. From there, Coker went on the attack scoring four straight goals to lead 4-0. Austin Lee posted two shots on goal during the offensive stall.
The Hawks caught a break with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter as Coker's attempt to clear the ball back to the keeper was missed and deposited into the goal of an own goal.
Second Quarter:
Coker increased their lead to 5-1 early in the period. Patrick Egan and Jaxon Martin tallied shots but were saved.
Jackson Downs registered the first goal for the Hawks in a man-down situation as Jaxon Martin found Downs for the goal. Simon Alvarado Jr started a run-out with the ground ball pick up after a turnover. Austin Lee would take it towards the goal mouth and find the back of the net to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Jack Ellis and Jaxon Martin had chances to find the back of the net but were denied by the pipe and the Cobra keeper.
Coker scored two goals within a span of 36 seconds to push their advantage to 7-3 before the half.
Third Quarter:
The Coker run continued out of the half with two quick goals to lead 9-3. Noah Holloway found the back of the net to end the run.
The Cobras pushed ahead with three more goals in the quarter as the Hawks played defense most of the period.
Fourth Quarter:
Coker pushed ahead 14-4 through the first five minutes of the quarter. Jaxon Martin found Austin Lee for his second goal of the contest.
Following a Coker goal, Noah Holloway deposited one past the keeper.
