MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team gave head coach Josh Seese his first win at Chowan in dominant fashion with a 21-7 rout over Montreat on Tuesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Eight Hawks scored in the contest led by a program tying best by Austin Lee with eight goals.  Patrick Egan recorded a program best 12 points tallying a program best eight assists and scoring four goals.

It was the most points recorded for the Hawks in a single game (40) and most assists in a single game (19).

Matthew Leone (1), Jaxon Martin (3), Chris Maini (1), Noah Holloway (1), Jackson Downs (2), and Jack Ellis (1) scored a goal in the win.

Slater Bender picked up the win in goal with 12 saves and recorded an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Chowan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Austin Lee found Patrick Egan for a man-up goal to start the contest.  Austin Lee found the back of the net from an assist by Jaxon Martin to lead 2-0.

Montreat countered with two goals to even the contest before a pair of goals by Jackson Downs gave the Hawks a 4-2 lead at the end of the first.  Noah Holloway and Jaxon Martin tallied an assist.

Second Quarter:

Austin Lee found the back of the net twice early in the second period off assists from Patrick Egan and Noah Holloway.  The Cavaliers would get on the board in the period with a man-up goal.

Austin Lee scored his hat-trick goal of the period off a pass from Patrick Egan to put the Hawks up 7-3.  Montreat scored to close the gap before a three goal run by the Hawks pushed the lead to 10-4.

Jaxon Martin started the rally with a goal after a save by Slater Bender.  Bender sent a long clearing cross to Martin for the easy tally.  Austin Lee and Patrick Egan found the back of the net as well with assists coming from Adam Howard and Jack Ellis.

Third Quarter:

Montreat picked up two goals in the period, but the momentum stayed with the Hawks as the lead increased to 15-6.  Patrick Egan scored a man-up goal and Noah Holloway scored an unassisted tally.

Patrick Egan, Austin Lee, and Jaxon Martin continued the run with a goal each.  Egan recorded two assists and Martin posted one.

Fourth Quarter:

After a period opening goal by Montreat, Chowan finished off the contest with six goals.  Patrick Egan assisted on the first four goals of the period.  Austin Lee scored twice, while Matthew Leone, Jack Ellis, Jaxon Martin, and Chris Maini tallied a goal down the stretch.
