MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped the final two games of the Conference Carolinas series against King at home on Monday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Brock Cross led the team at the plate with three hits and a double. Trenton Lee, Jack Kane, and Jared Fry registered two hits each. Kane tallied a triple. Lee also drew two walks and was hit by a pitch.
Walker Jones took the loss in game one with seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Caleb Peterson pitched in relief in game two with 2.1 innings and picked up two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game Two: Chowan 1, King 11
King started the scoring in the top of the first inning on two singles and a sacrifice fly to lead 1-0.
The Tornado added to their lead in the second inning to lead 4-0 on three hits and an error.
Jack Kane picked up the first hit of the contest for the Hawks with a triple to deep center field. Justin Winslow would hit a sacrifice fly to plate Kane and cut the deficit to 4-1.
Brock Cross singled to right center and Trenton Lee reached on an error but the Hawks would be left stranded.
King scored four runs in the fifth inning on three hits and an error to lead 8-1. The Tornado extended their lead to 11-1 in the sixth inning.
Noah Cartwright and Tristan Council drew pinch hit walks in the seventh.
Game Three: Chowan 4, King 8
Jared Fry started off the bottom of the first with a single to left. Fry moved to second on Travis Cross' ground out. Trenton Lee drew a walk. Fry would be stranded at third.
In the second inning, Tyler Jones beat out an infield single and moved to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. Jones would be stranded at third after a pair of punchouts.
King broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning as a base hit just inside the right field line allowed the lead-off single to score.
Chowan rallied in the bottom of the third as Jared Fry reached on a throwing error and moved to second on the throw. Travis Cross moved Fry to third on a deep fly ball. Trenton Lee singled to right center to score Fry and knot the game at one. Lee was running on the pitch as Jack Kane singled to center to put Lee at third. Brock Cross doubled to left to score Lee to lead 2-1.
King quickly responded with three runs off four hits to lead 4-2.
Brock Cross looked to start a rally in the sixth inning with a single to right center. Justin Winslow was hit by a pitch by the new pitcher. Tyler Jones moved Cross and Winslow up a base on a sacrifice bunt. The Hawks would leave the runners stranded in scoring position.
The Tornado scored a run in the seventh and three in the eighth to lead 8-2.
As darkness closed, Justin Winslow and Tyler Jones drew walks to start the bottom of the eighth. Noah Cartwright and Jared Fry produced singles to plate runs to cut the deficit to 8-4. A strikeout and a fielder's choice ended the inning.
