Hawks Start Fast In Win Over Battlers

PHILLIPI, W.VA. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team soared out to an early lead and left no doubt in a 15-5 decision over Alderson Broaddus in the first of two contests in West Virginia on Thursday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Austin Lee continued his scoring run finding the back of the net five times and added two assists.  Patrick Egan scored three goals and registered five assists in the win.

Jaxon Martin, Noah Holloway, and Jackson Downs scored two goals each.  Jason Jenkins II scored once.

Adam Howard collected seven ground balls.  Slater Bender moved to 3-1 in cage this season with eight saves and one goal allowed.  Russell Robinson picked up four saves in 12:34 of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Just two shots into the contest the Hawks would go up 2-0 on Alderson Broaddus.  Patrick Egan found the back of the net on both attempts with the second shot getting the assist from Austin Lee.

Austin Lee found the back of the net to start his run of goals.  Patrick Egan would find Jaxon Martin for a goal before Martin found Lee for his second tally and the 5-0 lead.

Jason Jenkins II started another string of goals for the Hawks finding Jackson Downs for the tally.  Patrick Egan found Austin Lee for his hat-trick goal on the man-up advantage before Jenkins finished off the quarter with a tally from a Noah Holloway assist to lead 8-0.

Second Quarter:

Alderson Broaddus would get on the board early in the second quarter for the lone tally of the half.

Noah Holloway finished off the unassisted goal before Patrick Egan assisted Austin Lee on a goal to lead 10-1 at the intermission.

Third Quarter:

Chowan would dominate another quarter holding the Battlers scoreless in the period and extending their lead to 14-1.  Austin Lee scored the man-up goal off a Jackson Downs assist.  Lee would find Patrick Egan for a goal before Egan connected with Jackson Downs for a goal.

Fourth Quarter:

ABU scored four goals in the frame as the Hawks slowed the attack.  Jaxon Martin found the back of the net off another assist from Patrick Egan early in the quarter.

UP NEXT

Chowan finishes up the West Virginia road trip with a non-conference contest against Davis & Elkins on Saturday, February 22.  Opening face-off is at 1pm.
