MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Basketball teams took tough losses against Belmont Abbey during the week in league action, but the Hawks will look to bounce back as they head to Erskine on Saturday.

HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan battled back from a 19 point deficit against #21 Belmont Abbey before falling to the Crusaders. The Hawks are 4-15 on the season and 4-11 in Conference Carolinas play.
Mariah Coker is averaging 11.5 points per game. Coker is coming up on two other career milestones needing 41 assists to become the all-time leader after achieving the DII mark, and 28 made 3-pts for the all-time mark.
Demetria Bland chips in with 9.2 points per game scoring in double-figures eight times this season. Olivia Gaither adds 7.9 points, while Aniah Patterson tallies 6.4 points a night.
Monique Jones is coming off a career-high game with 16 points on 7-9 shooting.
GROUNDING THE FLEET
Erskine enters the contest with a 4-16 overall record and a 4-11 mark in league play. The Fleet hold the tiebreaker with the Hawks after taking the first game of the series, 58-54, back in December. The Fleet are on a five game losing streak.
Alexis Scott and Osha Makerson leads the team with 13.0 and 11.7 points per game respectively. Scott also grabs 8.9 rebounds a night.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan dropped a heartbreaker at the buzzer against Belmont Abbey during the week to fall to 8-10 on the season and 5-8 in league play.
BJ McLaurin leads the team averaging a double-double with 16.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. McLaurin leads the Conference Carolinas in rebounds per game. Khalil Ridges upped his average to 12.3 points per game, while Ja'Darien Wade and Jaylen Dilliard chip in with 11.9 and 11.2 points.
Jamal Thomas was the floor general against Belmont Abbey tying the single-game record with 14 assists.
CONTROLLING THE FLYING FLEET
Erskine is 5-13 overall and 3-10 in conference action heading into their non-conference contest against Bob Jones on Thursday evening.
Malcom Green leads the Fleet with 16.1 points per game. Jaywaun Washington is averaging 11.4 points, while Jordan Watson scores 10.3 points a night.
Erskine has lost their last six contests.
