HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan will look to snap a six game losing streak falling to 3-14 on the season and 3-10 in league play.
Mariah Coker leads the team with 11.5 points a night after averaging 14.8 points per game in her last five contests. Coker sits a mere 16 points away from 1,000 points in her career. Coker will become the seventh Hawk to achieve the milestone in the NCAA era. The senior also averages 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Demetria Bland chips in with 9.5 points per game scoring in double-figures seven times this season.
CAPTURING THE WARRIORS
Southern Wesleyan sits with a 1-17 overall record and 1-11 in league play. The Warriors are on a nine game skid. SWU is allowing 96.5 points and shooting 26.8 percent from the floor in their last two games.
Emily Waters leads the attack with 10.3 points per game. Aneysa Williams and Denisha Hall chip in with 9.8 and 9.4 points respectively.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan slipped to 7-9 on the season and 4-7 in league play after a tough loss to North Greenville on Monday to snap a three game winning streak.
Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, BJ McLaurin, leads the team with 16.3 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. The freshman has nine games this season with double-digit rebounds and 11 games in double-figure scoring. His rebounding numbers lead the Conference Carolinas and is top-10 in the NCAA.
Ja'Darien Wade (12.1), Jaylen Dilliard (11.2), Khalil Ridges (11.2), and Tahkey Williams (10.1) are in double-figures for the Hawks. Ridges is coming off a career-high 22 points against NGU on Monday.
AVOIDING THE WARRIORS' ATTACK
Southern Wesleyan enters the contest with an 11-8 overall record and 7-4 in league play. The Warriors are receiving votes in the D2SIDA Southeast Regional poll. The Warriors are coming off a close loss on Monday that snapped a four game win streak.
Clenzo Ross and Ta'Jay Dunlap lead the scoring for the Warriors at 17.5 and 16.7 points respectively. Solomon Smith and Cameron Holmes are in double-figures. Smith also averages a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
