HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan fell to 3-12 on the season and 3-8 in Conference Carolinas play with their most recent loss to Limestone during the week.
Mariah Coker upped her season average to 11.0 points a game with a 16 point outing against the Saints. Coker continues to inch closer to 1,000 points sitting with 954 career points. The senior is also averaging 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Demetria Bland chips in with 10.3 points per game scoring in double-figures for the seventh time this season.
CAGING THE BOBCATS
Lees-McRae snapped a five game skid with an upset win against Emmanuel during the week to improve to 5-12 on the season and 2-7 in league play. The Bobcats are 4-1 at home this season.
Destiny Johnson is the leading scorer for the Bobcats at 12.1 points a night. LMC has three players adding a shade over seven points a night.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan picked up win #100 for Coach Vincent during his tenure with the Hawks in dominating fashion against Limestone to improve to 6-8 on the season and 3-6 in league action.
BJ McLaurin recorded his second straight 20-point, 14-rebound game in the win over Limestone. The freshman has nine games this season with double-digit rebounds and 11 games in double-figure scoring. McLaurin leads the team at 16.3 points and 11.1 rebounds. His rebounding numbers lead the Conference Carolinas and is top-10 in the NCAA.
Khalil Ridges is coming off his best game of the season with a 17 point outing. Ridges has played 34.5 minutes a game in the last two contests. Jamal Thomas is averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during the modest two game winning streak.
Chowan's defense is the stingiest in the league at 74.8 points.
COUNTERING THE BOBCAT ATTACK
Lees-McRae continues to defend their home moving to 7-0 at home this season and 12-4 overall. The Bobcats are 5-3 in league play and ranked sixth in the D2SIDA Southeast Regional poll.
LMC likes to score averaging 95.6 points a night including six games reaching the century mark while leading the Conference Carolinas.
The Bobcats have five players in double-figures led by Quay Kimble and Kamil Williams at 17.5 and 16.6 points respectively.
