MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team wrap-up their 2019 home schedule as the Hawks host Virginia State in a CIAA Northern Division clash of the top two teams before traveling to take on Virginia Union on Sunday.
Chowan will honor Haley Cooper and Donya Salman for senior day, as well as, the team will be presented with their 2018 CIAA Championship rings.

HAWKS HITTERS
Chowan enters the contest with an 11-20 overall record and a 7-2 mark in CIAA action following their sweep of Elizabeth City State last weekend.
Beth Walker continues to lead the Hawks at the plate with a .410 batting average. Walker has 34 hits, 12 doubles, and two home runs this season. Haley Cooper leads the team with 37 hits while producing a .363 batting average. Brittany Parson and Jesse Gentry have a .308 and .306 batting average respectively. Parson leads the team with 24 RBI.
EmaRae Flores leads the team in the circle with a 7-10 record and a 5.35 ERA. Shannon Buchanan is 4-6 in the circle this season.
TRIPPING UP THE TROJANS
Virginia State is 13-17 overall this season and leads the CIAA Northern Division with a 9-2 record and 4-0 mark in the Northern.
Kennedy Presson leads the Trojans at the plate with a .406 batting average and 28 hits. Presson has three triples and four home runs this season. Brooklynn Bilyard paces the team with 25 RBI.
Bilyard in the circle this season is 6-5 with a 5.38 ERA.
CAGING THE PANTHERS
Virginia Union is 7-14 on the season and 6-3 in CIAA play prior to their weekend series against Elizabeth City State and Chowan.
Yazmine Lewis leads the team with a .371 batting average. Brionna Coleman is hitting .350 on the season.
Ericka Tiscareno has a 1-5 record in the circle and a 7.09 ERA.
