TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The dominant starting pitching of nationally-ranked North Greenville was on display in the Conference Carolinas series opener as the Chowan Baseball team fell 11-3 on Friday evening.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
The Hawks were kept off balance by the Crusaders' starting pitching picking up two hits and eight strikeouts before the weather delay with one out in the top of the sixth inning.
Nick Rose picked up two of the Hawks' five hits on the evening including his sixth home run of the season. Jack Kane tallied a solo home run.
Nicholas Lees and Anthony Jefferson picked up one hit each. Jared Fry drew a walk to round out the base runners for the Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
North Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run. NGU would push their lead to 4-0 with a two-run home run in the second inning.
Nicholas Lees notched the first hit for the Hawks in the third inning with a single to left. Nick Rose followed with a two-out single to right before being left stranded on the bases.
The Crusaders extended the lead to 7-0 before Slade Cowan tossed one pitch in the fourth to roll a double play to end the inning.
A forty-five minute weather delay would force the Crusaders' starter out of the contest with one out in the top of the sixth inning. NGU tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the inning for a 10-0 lead.
Jack Kane would put the Hawks on the board on the first pitch of the seventh inning with a solo home run to left field.
The Hawks would add two runs in the eighth inning to close the gap to 10-3. Anthony Jefferson singled to right field with two-outs. Nick Rose homered to right center to trim the deficit.
NGU pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead 11-3. Jared Fry would draw a two-out walk in the ninth.
UP NEXT
Chowan's postseason hopes are still alive with the postponement of the series between Southern Wesleyan and Barton. The Hawks hold a one game lead on SWU with the final two contests of the season coming on Saturday, April 20. First pitch of the doubleheader with the Hawks and Crusaders is slated for 12pm.
