WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball dropped a non-conference contest to Francis Marion at historic Fleming Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Marquise Lanier hit his 15th home run of the season with a two-run homer in the third inning.
Nick Rose, Marquise Lanier, Jack Kane, Jared Fry, Justin Winslow, and Noah Evington tallied one hit each.
Vinny Puma tossed two shutout innings to start the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nick Rose picked up the first hit in the contest for the Hawks in the bottom of the first inning. Jack Kane was hit by a pitch to put Rose into scoring position but a double play ended the inning.
Vinny Puma struck out two in the top of the second for a quick 1-2-3 inning.
Francis Marion would get on the board in the third inning with two base hits to lead 1-0. The Hawks responded in the bottom of the inning as Nick Rose was hit by a pitch with two outs. Marquise Lanier launched the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to take a 2-1 lead.
The Patriots would take advantage of the inconsistency on the mound to plate five runs on two hits to regain the lead 6-2.
Chowan was able to manufacture a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to 6-3. Trenton Lee started off the inning with a walk. Justin Winslow reached on a high chopper to the left of the pitcher. Lee and Winslow completed the double steal before Nicholas Lees hit a sac fly to plate Lee.
FMU tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on a home run and three runs in the seventh inning to push ahead to an 11-3 lead.
The Patriots would open the contest to 15-3 in the eighth inning with a three-run home run to cap off a four run inning.
Jared Fry doubled into the left center gap and moved to third on a stolen base but left stranded. FMU extended their lead to 18-3 in the ninth inning.
Noah Evington picked up a pinch hit single in the ninth.
