MARS HILL, N.C. – A late man-up goal by Alex Clabaugh with under a minute to go was not enough for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team as the Hawks fell short to Mars Hill on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Patrick Egan led the Hawks with five goals and two assists. Alex Clabaugh netted a hat-trick and added an assist.
Austin Lee and Quintin Bender posted two goals and an assist. Noah Holloway dished out four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Chowan would jump out to an early 2-0 lead as Alex Clabaugh found the back of the net early off an assist from Noah Holloway. Patrick Egan scored an unassisted goal to lead 2-0.
Following a Mars Hill score, Patrick Egan found the back of the net again off an assist from Austin Lee.
The Lions would score five straight goals to lead 6-3. Patrick Egan found Quintin Bender for a goal with six seconds remaining to trail 6-4.
Second Quarter:
The Hawks would even the score at 6-all as Quintin Bender and Patrick Egan scored in the period. Noah Holloway dished out an assist on the Bender goal.
Mars Hill found a tally late in the opening half to lead 7-6 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
Alex Clabaugh found Jaxon Martin quickly in the period to start a run. Clabaugh also found the back of the net to give the Hawks an 8-7 advantage.
The Lions would score three times including two man-up goals to take the lead 10-8.
Patrick Egan scored off a Noah Holloway assist to trim the lead to 10-9 before Mars Hill led 11-9 heading to the final stanza.
Fourth Quarter:
The Hawks would score three quick goals to regain the lead 12-11. Austin Lee scored twice during the spurt off assists from Noah Holloway and Quintin Bender. Patrick Egan scored off a Jason Jenkins II pass.
Mars Hill countered with three straight goals to take the lead back, 14-12. Alex Clabaugh scored with 36 seconds left on the man-up advantage.
The Lions would win the ensuing face-off and hold off the Hawks for the 14-13 victory.
