MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team's furious comeback against Barton came up short as the Hawks fell 18-14 at home in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Patrick Egan tallied five goals to pace the offense. Noah Holloway, Austin Lee, and Alex Clabaugh posted two goals and two assists each.
Jaxon Martin scored twice. Jacob Feretta and Jason Jenkins added an assist. Quintin Bender scored a goal.
Slater Bender took the loss in cage with 11 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Jaxon Martin found the back of the net early for the Hawks off an assist from Noah Holloway. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead before Patrick Egan evened the score on an unassisted goal.
Barton led 5-2 at the break.
Second Quarter:
Noah Holloway started the scoring in the period for the Hawks. Austin Lee found Jaxon Martin for a goal to close the gap to 5-4.
Barton finished off the quarter with a 9-0 run to lead 14-4 at the half.
Third Quarter:
Austin Lee sparked a rally in the second half with an unassisted goal. Alex Clabaugh found Patrick Egan for a goal to trim the deficit to 14-6.
Quintin Bender scored off a pass from Austin Lee to continue the run. Patrick Egan found the back of the net off an assist from Alex Clabaugh.
Noah Holloway scored an unassisted goal to close the gap to 16-9 heading to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter:
Noah Holloway found Alex Clabaugh quickly in the period to start the comeback. Jacob Ferretta picked off the clear attempt and snapped the ball back up field and found Austin Lee for the goal. Patrick Egan closed the gap to 16-12 with a goal.
After a Bulldog goal, Patrick Egan netted a man-up goal off a pass from Jason Jenkins II. Alex Clabaugh posted the final goal for the Hawks to trim the deficit to 17-14 with 5:04 remaining.
Barton added a goal before taking the victory, 18-14.
