HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan enters the tournament with a 12-14 record as the sixth seed in the Northern Division. The Hawks have struggled away from home this season with a 1-9 record.
Timothy Bing led the Hawks during the regular season averaging 16.4 points per game. Demetrius Sanders was second on the squad at 15.7 points while shooting 50.6% from the floor. Sanders added 6.8 rebounds per night.
Gus Rowland finished second in the country in assists per game at 7.3 while averaging 14.2 points a night. Rowland is coming off one of his best games this season with 17 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
MOVING PAST THE GOLDEN BULLS
Johnson C. Smith enters the tournament with an 8-17 overall record and the seventh seed in the Southern Division.
Roddric Ross and Cayse Minor led JCSU with 17.7 and 17.5 points per game respectively. The next closest Golden Bull averaged 6.3 points.
LAST MEETING
Chowan and Johnson C. Smith played on January 10, 2019 in Charlotte, N.C. The Hawks held the halftime lead 34-28 but shot 30.0% from the floor in the second half to fall 61-54. The loss handed the Hawks their second loss of the season and first in CIAA play.
