Chowan Lacrosse Falls To Battlers On Road

PHILIPPI, W.VA. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team dropped to 1-3 on the season after falling to Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon on the road.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Alex Clabaugh and Austin Lee tallied three points each in the loss.  Clabaugh netted a hat-trick, while Lee recorded two goals and one assist.

Quintin Bender added two goals in the loss.  Slater Bender took the loss in cage stopping 22 shots.

Chowan was 8-24 at the face-off spot.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Alderson Broaddus scored quickly in the contest as the Battlers scored in the first 34 seconds.  The Battlers would tally another goal 64 seconds later and a third five seconds after that to lead 3-0.

ABU recorded their fourth goal of the quarter before the Hawks jumped on the board.  Alex Clabaugh found the back of the net off a pass from Austin Lee.  The Hawks would strike again 41 ticks later as Jason Jenkins II scored unassisted.

Patrick Egan scored a man-up goal of the pass from Noah Holloway to draw within one, 4-3.

Second Quarter:

The run continued for the Hawks as Alex Clabaugh scored an unassisted goal to even the score just 41 seconds into the quarter.

Quintin Bender gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead on an unassisted goal.  The Battlers countered with two goals to regain the lead 6-5 before Noah Holloway found Bender on the man-up advantage to even the score at six.

ABU went on a 4-1 run to end the half.  Austin Lee caused a turnover and scored quickly during the stretch.  The Battlers led 10-7 at the intermission.

Third Quarter:

The scoring slowed in the quarter as the Hawks scored twice.  Alex Clabaugh scored off a Jason Jenkins II pass.

Austin Lee would pick up the ground ball and score to close the gap to 11-9 heading to the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter:

Chowan was 0-5 in shot attempts in the quarter as Alderson Broaddus added four goals in the quarter to take the win 15-9.

UP NEXT

Chowan travels to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans in the Conference Carolinas opener on Wednesday, February 27.  Opening face-off is at 4pm.
