Hawks Struggle On Road Against Lincoln

LINCOLN, PA. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team was held to a season low 25.5% from the floor in a 74-47 loss to Lincoln (Pa.) in CIAA Northern Division action on Thursday evening.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Demetrius Sanders led the team with 14 points.  Timothy Bing tallied 11 points.

Gus Rowland added four points, four rebounds, and four assists.  The Hawks went 13-51 from the floor and added 17 points from the foul line.

NOTABLES

With the loss, Chowan slips to the fifth seed in the Northern Division heading into the final contest of the season.  The Hawks hold the tie-breaker against Elizabeth City State in point differential in head-to-head contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Lincoln (Pa.) started out the contest on a 13-3 run.  Timothy Bing scored all three points during the stretch.  Michael Kelly knocked down a jumper to end the run.

Demetrius Sanders tallied a three-pointer and Gus Rowland recorded a pull-up jumper to trim the deficit to 17-10.  Sanders knocked down another triple before Lincoln pushed the lead back to double-digits, 23-13.

Trejvon McFail added a jumper along with four points by Demetrius Sanders at the stripe.  Lincoln led 36-22 at the break.

Second Half:

The Lions went on a 12-3 run to start the half as Timothy Bing knocked down a three-pointer.  Gus Rowland connected from the field to end the run.

Brandon Mayhan hit a three-pointer to trim the deficit to 50-30.  Timothy Bing added a jumper as the Lion lead grew to 60-33.  Michael Kelly added a layup as Bing added two from the stripe and Demetrius Sanders notched a dunk.

Ta'Sean Young and Xavier Young added points at the stripe as the Lincoln lead swelled before the Lions took the contest, 74-47.

UP NEXT

Chowan hosts Virginia Union in the final regular season game on Saturday, February 23.  Tip-off is slated for 4pm.  Demetrius Sanders will be honored prior to the contest during Senior Day festivities.
