MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team took the series against the Golden Eagles with a 12-9 win over Clarion in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

Wyatt Beakler took the win on the hill pitching 6.1 innings. Jack Kane picked up the save tossing the final 2.2 innings striking out three.
Nicholas Lees led the charge at the plate going 3-3 with a walk. Marquise Lanier, Brock Cross, Harley Davidson, and Dallas Trevena picked up two hits each. Lanier and Cross recorded home runs and three RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Clarion looked to get on the board in the first inning after a single and a hit by pitch. The Golden Eagles ran themselves out of the inning.
Tyler Jones started off the inning with a single to center. Marquise Lanier would strikeout and reach on the wild pitch but was left stranded.
The Golden Eagles cracked the scoreboard in the second inning as a one-out walk and a double led to a run.
Chowan exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the inning as Brock Cross and Trenton Lee started the rally with base hits. Nicholas Lees singled to center to load the bases. Tyler Jones plated the first run with a walk before Nick Rose's double scored two. Harley Davidson picked up a RBI single and Marquise Lanier doubled to stretch the lead to 6-1.
The Hawks pushed the advantage to 8-1 in the bottom of the third inning scoring two runs. Trenton Lee reached on a bobble and moved to second on Tristan Council's ground out. Nicholas Lees singled to put runners on the corners. Lees swiped second and allowed Lee to score on the throw down. Dallas Trevena picked up his first collegiate hit with a single up the middle to plate a run. Trevena would be stranded at second after swiping the bag.
Clarion tallied a run in the sixth inning to trim the deficit to 8-2. The Hawks countered with a three run sixth to lead 11-2. Harley Davidson doubled to start the inning. Marquise Lanier would be hit by a pitch before Brock Cross hit a home run to left center.
The Golden Eagles would not go away quietly as Clarion scored seven runs off six hits in the seventh to close the gap to 11-9. Jack Kane stopped the rally on fielder's choices.
Marquise Lanier added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with a no-doubt home run to left center, 12-9.
Jack Kane picked up the save on the hill keeping Clarion of the scoreboard in the ninth.

Chowan returns to the diamond on February 16-17 in a three-game series at home against Molloy. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 12pm.
