MURFREESBORO, N.C. – As the 2019 year wraps up so does the homestand for the Chowan Basketball teams. The Hawks host their final home game of 2019 as Erskine comes to Murfreesboro in a Conference Carolinas match up.

HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan dropped to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in Conference Carolinas action after falling to Belmont Abbey two weeks ago.
Demetria Bland and Mariah Coker lead the team in scoring with 13.3 and 11.6 points per game respectively. Coker is averaging 4.1 assists per game and is approaching milestone marks quickly. The senior is 130 points away from 1000 points, 11 assists shy of Chowan's DII mark, and 86 assists shy of Chowan's all-time mark.
GROUNDING THE FLEET
Erskine is winless on the season going 0-8 and 0-4 in league play. The Fleet are coming off a loss against Mount Olive last weekend at home.
Alexis Scott leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Osha Makerson helps the offense with 11.8 points.
WITHIN THE CONFERENCE
Chowan averages 61.1 points a game, while Erskine scores 57.4, both towards the bottom of the league. The Hawks are giving up 69.7 points (fifth best), while the Fleet are giving up 76.6 (worst) in the league.
Chowan sits ninth in the league standings, while Erskine sits last in the league through the early portion of the schedule.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan improved their record back to .500 with a non-conference win against Regent to move to 4-4 on the year. The Hawks are 1-2 on the season in league play.
Ja'Darien Wade continues to be a stat sheet stuffer posting 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. BJ McLaurin still averages a double-double a game with 14.3 points and 12.1 rebounds. McLaurin continues to lead the Conference Carolinas in rebounds per game despite only having five last game.
Jaylen Dilliard (13.4), Tahkey Williams (10.6) and Trejvon McFail (10.3) are in double-digits for the Hawks. Brandon Mayhan chips in with 8.6 points a night.
HARNESSING THE FLEET
Erskine enters the contest with a 3-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in league play. The Fleet are 0-3 on the road this season. Erskine comes off an overtime loss to Mount Olive last weekend.
The Fleet have three players in double-figures in scoring led by Malcom Green with 15.7 points a game. Jaywaun Washington (11.8) and Trent Smoot (11.3) aid in the offensive output.
WITHIN THE CONFERENCE
Chowan produces 81.1 points per game, while Erskine scores 74.4 points a night. Both teams are stingy on defense leading the conference in fewest points allowed per game, 74.8 and 77.2 points respectively.
The Hawks are ninth in the league standings, while the Fleet are 10th just a handful of games into the league schedule.
