MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team picked up a convincing win over Regent in non-conference action on Tuesday evening, 86-54, at home.

Jaylen Dilliard led all scorers with 18 points going 5-8 from deep. Ja'Darien Wade added 16 points, four assists, five steals and three rebounds.
Trejvon McFail chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds. BJ McLaurin's streak of double-doubles ended with 11 points and five rebounds.
Jamal Thomas posted a career-high seven assists. The Hawks had 26 assists on 32 made baskets. The defense produced 15 steals.
No Regent player had more than nine points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
After a 7-1 run to start the game by Regent, BJ McLaurin posted the first two buckets for the Hawks in the contest. The Royals would answer to force a Chowan timeout trailing 11-5 with 15:45 remaining.
From there, the Hawks would go on a 9-0 run to take the lead 14-11. Trejvon McFail knocked down a triple along with a triple by Jamal Thomas and three points by BJ McLaurin.
Both teams would swap buckets during the midway point of the half to keep the contest close. Ja'Darien Wade would shift the momentum with two fastbreak dunks and a layup by Jaylen Dilliard to force a timeout by the Royals, 27-19.
The lead would continue to increase for the Hawks as Ja'Darien Wade knocked down back-to-back treys. Xavier Young added a pair from the stripe along with a three-pointer by Jaylen Dilliard and a jumper by Wade to push the lead to 40-21.
Regent added a bucket to trail 40-23 at the half.
Second Half:
Jaylen Dilliard swapped triples with the Royals to start the half but knocked down a second to take the advantage. Tahkey Williams added a triple and Trejvon McFail added a pair of jumpers in the paint to push the lead to 53-30.
Regent would cut the deficit to less than 20 with 12:24 remaining but Jaylen Dilliard knocked down two more triples and a transition dunk by Trejvon McFail sparked a 22-4 run that lasted nearly six minutes. The Hawks would go 8-8 from the floor with half of those from behind the arc.
BJ McLaurin and Jamal Thomas added a layup before Trejvon McFail connected from deep. Brandon Mayhan registered a jumper and a pair from the stripe to push the lead to 72-35 with 8:08 to play. Xavier Young countered the three-ball with one of his own to end the run.
Calvin Ahoume would get into the scoring with a jumper. Latrell Lloyd went 1-2 from the stripe and Michael Kelly connected from deep.
Regent would make a small run, 7-0, before Michael Kelly hit a jumper. Calvin Ahoume completed the three-point play to finish off the scoring in the contest for the win.
