HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan will look to build off the first half of the 2018-19 season rather than the latter half as the Hawks started the season 10-1 before ending with a 12-15 overall record. The Hawks posted an 11-5 record inside the Helms Center and a 60-35 mark under Brett Vincent.
The Hawks return a strong portion of their team from last season including leading scorer Timothy Bing. Bing averaged 16.1 points and 4.3 rebounds. Ja'Darien Wade will return from injury after averaging 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the first two games last season.
Chowan will have a big hole to fill with the departure of Demetrius Sanders and Gus Rowland. Xavier Young stepped up for the Hawks last season in the CIAA Tournament with 19 points.
HARNESSING THE GOLDEN BEAR
West Virginia Tech is 2-1 on the season after going 30-5 last year and a trip to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
The Golden Bear are led by Tamon Scruggs with 17.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds. Junior Arrey chips in with 15.0 points a night.
WVU Tech lost their top three scorers from last season for a total of 46.7 points of the team's 94.8 points.
