HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan battled tough at the UNG Nighthawk Classic in Georgia over the weekend against #15 North Georgia and Georgia College.
Destiny Robinson leads the team with 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game after recording a career-high 19 points off the bench. Mariah Coker chips in with 13.5.
The Hawks have started off slow in their first two contests, but maybe home court advantage will flip the script.
FLANKING THE PATRIOTS
Francis Marion is 2-0 on the season after picking up decisive wins against Barton and Claflin to start the year.
Three Patriots are in double-figures in scoring, led by Zaria Woods at 18.0 points per night. Kristian Wall (14.0) and Kaina Adderton (13.0) help pace the offense. Adderton leads the team with 9.0 rebounds a game, while Woods and Wall post 7.0.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan is 1-2 on the season and comes off two straight losses to former league foes, Elizabeth City State and Fayetteville State.
Ja'Darien Wade leads the offense with 18.0 points. Thakey Williams (13.3), Jaylen Dilliard (12.0), Xavier Young (11.0), and Brandon Mayhan (10.0) also average double-digits. BJ McLaurin has been a spark off the bench with 10.3 rebounds per game and 8.7 points.
SADDLING THE MUSTANGS
Mid-Atlantic Christian are 3-2 on the season and have allowed over 100 points in the two losses.
Kevin Fletcher is averaging 17.0 points a game to lead the Mustangs. Jabari Richardson (16.0) and Malik Galloway (10.4) score in double-figures. Galloway averages a double-double with 10.0 rebounds a game.
The Mustangs shoot 25.7% from behind the arc and 58.8% from the free throw line.
