WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team suffered a straight sets loss to Barton in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday evening on the road.

Anixa Rosa-Martinez led the Hawks with 11 kills. Ann-Marie Johnson recorded seven kills and a solo block.
Katie Houston and Sydney Hiner posted 14 and 10 digs respectively.
Chowan would notch double-digit kill totals in the second and third sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Anixa Rosa-Martinez would put the Hawks on the board in the first set with a kill before the Bulldogs opened the match to 9-3. Rosa-Martinez notched back-to-back kills along with errors by Barton to close the gap to 12-9.
Barton would push their lead to 18-11 prior to a kill by Sydney Hiner and Chloe Putnam to trim the deficit once again, 18-15.
Errors by the Bulldogs closed the gap slightly before taking the set 25-18.
Second Set:
Chloe Putnam and Ann-Marie Johnson posted a kill each along with kills by Sydney Hiner and Anixa Rosa-Martinez to lead 6-4.
A run of errors and service aces allowed Barton to take the lead 14-9 to force a Chowan timeout. The errors would swap sides to allow Chowan to cut into the deficit 18-16 after Ann-Marie Johnson and Anixa Rosa-Martinez' kills.
Two more kills by Anixa Rosa-Martinez evened the set at 22-all, but Barton would take the set 25-22.
Third Set:
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Ann-Marie Johnson helped the Hawks lead 8-6 early in the set. Rosa-Martinez notched a kill before a 7-1 run by the Bulldogs opened the set.
Sydney Hiner, Ann-Marie Johnson, Hannah Sladick, and Chloe Putnam finished the set with a kill.
Barton capped off the set and match with a pair of service aces.
