HAWKS FILES – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Chowan enters the contest with a 10-7 overall record posting a 6-2 record in the CIAA and 0-1 in the Northern Division.
Danielle Weldon continues to pace the offense with 13.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Jada Lee and Mariah Coker chip in with 9.8 and 9.0 points per game respectively.
The Hawks sit at the top of the league averaging 17.9 offensive rebounds per game.
TRIPPING UP THE TROJANS
Coming off an incredible 23-6 season in 2017-18, Virginia State sits with an 8-8 overall record and 2-5 in the CIAA this season. The Trojans have lost three straight and six of their last seven.
Chrisanna Green and Yazmen Hannah lead the VSU offense with 16.4 and 11.5 points respectively. Green also adds 11.5 rebounds per game.
The Trojans are last in offensive rebounds per game at 10.6.
REGAINING THE ALTITUDE– MEN'S BASKETBALL
Chowan was able to bounce back against arch-rival, Elizabeth City State, to move to 11-4 on the season and 4-3 in the CIAA.
Timothy Bing paces the starting five in double-digits with 17.3 points per game. Demetrius Sanders (16.5), Gus Rowland (14.7), and Michael Kelly (11.5) score in double-figures. Bing is averaging 20.3 points per game in CIAA action.
Gus Rowland is fourth in the NCAA in assists per game dishing out 7.6 assist a game.
HALTING THE TROJAN ATTACK
Virginia State is 15-3 on the season and unbeaten in CIAA action at 7-0. The Trojans have won 11 straight since starting the season 0-2 and is 8-0 at home.
The Trojans have four players in double-figures with Jahmere Howze leading the team with 13.1 points per game and shooting 61.5 percent from the floor.
