SALISBURY, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team was unable to halt the skid as Livingstone handed Chowan their third straight loss in CIAA action on Monday evening, 102-91.

Three players tallied 20-plus points led by Demetrius Sanders with 26 points. Timothy Bing posted 23 points, while Gus Rowland scored 22 points. Deon Joyner recorded a career-high 18 points.
Chowan knocked down 10 three-pointers and went 23-31 from the free throw line. Livingstone held the advantage on the glass, 48-38, and recorded 27 second chance points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Demetrius Sanders started the scoring for the Hawks after the offensive rebound. Deon Joyner and Sanders tallied the first 10 points for the Hawks with Joyner notching a dunk and Sanders hitting a transition three-pointer.
Timothy Bing converted the three-point play to keep the Hawks' attack moving. Demetrius Sanders and Bing knocked down three-pointers to push the lead to 19-14 and forced a Blue Bears timeout.
Demetrius Sanders converted a layup and Timothy Bing knocked down a corner three-pointer to extend the lead to 25-16 before the media timeout.
Deon Joyner would post a dunk in transition after Gus Rowland swiped the ball from the Blue Bears. Michael Kelly threw the outlet pass up to Demetrius Sanders for the dunk to lead 29-21.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Demetrius Sanders and Gus Rowland gave the Hawks a double-digit lead. Livingstone would cut into the deficit at the free throw line, 36-31, with three minutes to play in the half. Rowland would dial up a three-pointer along with a Deon Joyner layup to offset the Blue Bear attack.
Gus Rowland posted a layup and Timothy Bing converted a pair from the stripe before the Blue Bears capped off the half with nine points to take a 48-46 lead at half.
Second Half:
Livingstone continued their run out of the locker room to force a timeout to lead by double-digits, 56-46. Gus Rowland would close the gap with three free-throws along with a layup by Timothy Bing trimmed the deficit to single digits.
The Blue Bears would push their lead back to double-digits and build on the lead until Gus Rowland knocked down a pair from the stripe. Ugljesa Portic would tally the first bucket for the Hawks in nearly three minutes and hit the front-end of the three-point play.
Timothy Bing would swap three-pointers along with a dunk by Deon Joyner to close the gap to 75-65. The Blue Bears would maintain their double-digit lead despite Gus Rowland knocking down a pair and Demetrius Sanders tallying a layup.
Livingstone would push the advantage to 16, 87-71, with back-to-back three-pointers. Deon Joyner would knock down a three-pointer and Gus Rowland tallied a layup to force a timeout.
Timothy Bing cut the deficit to 10, 91-81, with a three-pointer with 5:16 to play. Deon Joyner and Demetrius Sanders would connect from the floor but the Blue Bears would maintain the lead from the stripe.
Chowan had a chance to cut into the deficit as Livingstone missed free throws down the stretch. Demetrius Sanders knocked down a triple for the final bucket for the Hawks.
