HAWKS PROFILE
Chowan enters their second year in the Conference Carolinas after posting a program best 12-3-2 overall record in 2017. The Hawks are picked to finish third in the league after finishing with an 8-2-1 record last season. CU is 0-1-0 on the early season falling to UNC Pembroke, 1-0.
The Hawks return nine starters from last season including reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, Carolina Lucci. Lucci led the Hawks last season with 19 goals and 42 points. Sabrina Henderson posted four goals and four assists to pace the Hawks behind Lucci.
Olivia Borer and company kept opponents at-bay last season allowing only 10 goals and a program best 0.57 goals allowed per contest.
WECLOMING THE SAINTS
Limestone comes into the contest with a 2-0-0 record shutting out Young Harris and Anderson to open the season. The Saints are defending Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Champions. The two wins in the season pushed the Saints to a #25 national ranking this week.
Megan O'Connor leads the Saints with three goals and has played in one match this season.
Men's Soccer
2018 PREVIEW
The Hawks will look to improve on their 1-0-1 start to the 2018 season after picking up a double-overtime draw against regional power Wingate during the week. Last season the Hawks went 0-1-1 against the Saints picking up a draw against Limestone in the regular season.
Chowan finished the 2017 season with an 11-5-2 overall record and a 5-3-2 record in Conference Carolinas action. CU is picked to finish second in the league in their second season as a member.
Lee Wattam returns as the leading scorer from last season with five goals and four assists. Elliot Chadderton will look to continue to keep the ball out of the back of the net as the keeper allowed 1.24 goals per contest last season with eight shutouts.
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Chowan posted a 9-0-1 record at home last season. The Hawks have compiled a 24-7-4 record at home under Coach Chris Whalley. Under Coach Whalley, Chowan allows 0.82 goals per contest at home including 0.50 goals per contest last season.
MARCHING SAINTS
Limestone enters the contest with a 2-0-0 overall record and ranked #17 in the national polls. The Saints went 15-3-2 last season on their way to a Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Title. The Saints are picked to sit atop of league standings again this season.
Limestone used a last minute goal in double-overtime against Lenoir-Rhyne at home to start the season with a 3-2 win. The Saints would defeat Queens (N.C.), 1-0, at home.
Four Saints have scored one goal apiece this season. Defender, Jamie Smith was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week after posting two assists last week an helped register a shutout against the Royals.
