MURFREESBORO, N.C. – After claiming the CIAA Northern Division, the Chowan Softball Team heads to the CIAA Softball Championship starting play on Monday.

The double-elimination tournament begins play on Monday and concludes on Wednesday with the Championship game. Chowan would play either at 5pm (L) or 7:30pm (W) on Monday following the outcome against Shaw.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan claimed the Northern Division Title for the fourth straight season with 27-14 overall record and an unblemished 16-0 mark in CIAA play.
Lindsey Stigler led the team during the regular season with a .402 batting average. Stigler was second on the team in home runs (9) and runs batted in (34).
Kris Neal finished with a .394 average, second best on the team, with a team-leading 50 hits and four triples.
Beth Walker led the team with eight doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI in her freshman season.
Shannon Buchanan and Shelby Griffis produced double-digit wins in the circle this year as the duo posted a 3.25 ERA in the circle collectively.

Shaw grabbed the No. 4 seed in the Southern Division with a 10-18 overall record and an 8-8 mark in CIAA play.
Kiana Rogers led the team with a .390 batting average, 30 hits, and 22 RBI.
CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Chowan is 27-10 in CIAA Softball Championship action including an 8-0 mark in the first game the tournament. Chowan has claimed the Tournament Championship three times during the eight seasons in the CIAA.
The Hawks claimed the CIAA Championship in 2010, 2013, and most recently 2017.
