MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball took another step closer to closing out their CIAA season unbeaten with a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln on Saturday afternoon at home.

Kris Neal led the Hawks going 5-6 at the plate with two triples. Neal finished with three RBI.
Mackenzie Taggart, Donya Salman, and EmaRae Flores picked up three hits each.
Brittany Parson and Haley Cooper hit a home run in the win.
EmaRae Flores and Shannon Buchanan picked up wins in the circle. Shelby Griffis and Carleigh Wildeboer tossed two innings in relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 12, Lincoln 3 (5)
Lincoln struck for a run in the first inning with a sacrifice fly.
Chowan answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning as Kris Neal singled to center and moved to second. Haley Cooper and Beth Walker drew a walk allowing Neal to score on the wild pitch. Donya Salman tripled to left center to push the advantage to 4-1.
Miranda Glover drew a walk and stole second before coming around to score with Donya Salman on an error.
Kris Neal opened the bottom of the second off with a triple before scoring on a Haley Cooper sacrifice fly. Brittany Parson extended the lead to 8-1 with a solo home run.
The Lions added a run in the third inning on a base hit and error to cut the deficit to 8-2.
Chowan would push their advantage to 13-2 in the bottom of the third inning as Miranda Glover, Haley Cooper, and Brittany Parson drew walks along with hits by Kris Neal and Mackenzie Taggart. Beth Walker would drive in two with a sacrifice fly.
Game Two: Chowan 10, Lincoln 0 (5)
The Hawks would do damage in the bottom of the second inning plating seven runs to take a 7-0 lead. EmaRae Flores opened the inning with a double before coming around to score on a Donya Salman single. Salman would swipe second and moved to third on a passed ball. Miranda Glover drew a walk and stole second. Shannon Buchannan would help her own cause with a base hit up the middle to push the lead to 3-0.
Mackenzie Taggart and Kris Neal picked up base hits to extend the lead to 5-0 before a Brittany Parson double scored two more.
Chowan plated another run in the bottom of the third inning as Donya Salman singled up the middle. Salman advanced on a wild pitch before scoring on a Mackenzie Taggart single.
Haley Cooper hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to score Kris Neal, who tripled to lead off the inning, and extended the lead to 10-0.
Shelby Griffis would strike out the side in the fifth to seal the victory.

Chowan hosts Bowie State in the regular season finale with the CIAA Northern Division title on the line. The Hawks and Bulldogs will square off on Sunday, April 22. Senior Day festivities will begin prior to the doubleheader at 11:45am.
