Hawks Fall To Crusaders On Senior Day

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team dropped their Conference Carolinas regular season finale to North Greenville, 12-10, on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Alex Clabaugh paced the Hawks with five goals.  Nick Lavoy tallied two goals and added an assist.

Anthony Alfonso posted one goal and two assists.

DJ Walker took the loss in cage with 20 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

North Greenville opened up the contest with three goals to lead 3-0 after the opening stanza.

Second Quarter:

Alex Clabaugh put the Hawks on the board one minute into the second period off a pass from RJ Foster.  Anthony Alfonso closed the gap to 3-2 with a man-up goal off an assist from Josh Nicholson.

The Crusaders tallied their only goal of the period to push the lead back to 4-2.

Austin Lee posted a man-up goal off an assist from Nick Lavoy to close the gap to 4-3 at intermission.

Third Quarter:

RJ Foster and Alex Clabaugh gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead early in the third period before the Crusaders answered 30 seconds later.

The back-and-forth match continued as Alex Clabaugh tallied a goal off a Josh Nicholson pass.  Following two goals by NGU, Alex Clabaugh evened the match at 7-all.

NGU would take an 8-7 lead heading to the fourth.

Fourth Quarter:

NGU opened the scoring in the period before Alex Clabaugh put the Hawks on the board with an unassisted goal.

Nick Lavoy found the back of the net off an Anthony Alfonso assist to even the score at 9-all.  The duo would connect again to tie the score again at 10-all.

The Crusaders would tack on two goals to end the contest to take the victory 12-10.

UP NEXT

Chowan fell to the No. 5 seed in the Conference Carolinas.  The Hawks will travel to Tigerville, S.C. on Tuesday, April 24 to face North Greenville in the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship.
