Hawks Post Program Best 23 Goals In Rout Of Lions

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team won their fifth straight as the Hawks handed Emmanuel a 23-12 defeat in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Chowan carved up the Lions defense on their way to a program record 23 goals.

Anthony Alfonso scored a career-high eight goals and added three assists for 11 points.  Nick Lavoy added seven goals and four assists for 11 points.

Alex Clabaugh scored five goals.  Noah Holloway added four assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Emmanuel came out on fire scoring the first five goals of the contest to put the Hawks on their heels.

Noah Holloway ended the drought at the 5:48 mark with an unassisted goal.  Emmanuel countered with a goal to push the lead to 6-1.

Alex Clabaugh scored back-to-back goals off assists from Josh Nicholson and Nick Lavoy to close the gap to 6-3.

Ten seconds later Nick Lavoy found the back of the net off an assist from Noah Holloway to trim the deficit to 6-4.

Second Quarter:

Josh Nicholson opened the scoring off a pass from Nick Lavoy before Anthony Alfonso scored back-to-back goals to take the lead 7-6.

Emmanuel would score the equalizer before Anthony Alfonso scored off an Austin Lee pass to take the lead back and never relinquish the advantage.

Alex Clabaugh sparked the offense with a goal before Anthony Alfonso and Nick Lavoy teamed up in goals sharing the goal and assist to put the Hawks up 11-7 at the intermission.

Third Quarter:

Nick Lavoy scored the first three goals in the period off two passes from Anthony Alfonso and one from Noah Holloway.  Alex Clabaugh scored a pair of unassisted goals to push the lead to 16-7.

Anthony Alfonso found the back of the net twice off a pass from Alex Clabaugh and Nick Lavoy before the Lions got on the board, 18-8.

Xavier Wingfield found Nick Lavoy for a goal to swing the momentum back to the Hawks.

The Hawks led 22-8 after the third period.

Fourth Quarter:

Emmanuel would score four times in the final period.  Anthony Alfonso scored off a Noah Holloway assist for the only tally for the Hawks.
