MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball Team gears up for a huge CIAA Northern Divisional weekend as the Hawks face Virginia State and Virginia Union this weekend.
The series against Virginia Union on Sunday is at home.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan will look to keep their undefeated streak in CIAA action intact as the Hawks are 19-12 overall with an 8-0 mark in CIAA play and 2-0 record in Northern division action.
Beth Walker and Lindsey Stigler have been crushing the ball this season leading the team with eight home runs each. Stigler and Walker lead the team with a .395 and .394 batting average respectively.
Shannon Buchanan is 9-6 in the circle this year, while Shelby Griffis is 8-6. Buchanan leads the pitching staff with 68 strikeouts. Griffis is coming off a career milestone tossing a no-hitter against Elizabeth City last week.
VIRGINIA ON MY MIND
Virginia State is 15-10 on the season but sits atop the CIAA Northern Division with a perfect 10-0 record in CIAA play and 4-0 in the Northern. Virginia Union is 11-6 on the year with a 6-4 record in CIAA and 3-1 mark in the Northern Division.
Virginia State has won 12 straight contests coming off sweeps against Lincoln and Bowie State. Virginia Union is coming off a sweep of Lincoln and will play Elizabeth City on Saturday before coming to Murfreesboro.
