Chowan Cruises To Fourth Straight Against Pacers

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse continued on their streak as the Hawks stormed out to an early lead to cruise to a 20-12 victory over William Peace on the road Wednesday evening.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Anthony Alfonso poured on the goals with six goals and two assists to lead the team.  Nick Lavoy tallied five goals and an assist in the win.

Austin Lee recorded a hat-trick, while Noah Holloway and Alex Clabaugh scored twice.  Holloway dished out four assists.

Zach Mueller picked up the win in cage stopping five shots and allowed four goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Nick Lavoy put the Hawks on the board first before William Peace scored twice to take their only lead of the contest.

Alex Clabaugh knotted the contest up at 2-all with 5:21 remaining in the half as the Hawks never looked back.

Anthony Alfonso scored an unassisted goal with 1:10 left before Noah Holloway found Austin Lee for a man-up goal with under 10 seconds left in the quarter to lead 4-2.

Second Quarter:

Chowan dominated the stanza with seven goals to lead 11-4 at the half.  Anthony Alfonso scored a man-down goal just two minutes into the quarter.  Skylar Briscoe would win the face-off and take it himself tallying a goal just 13 seconds after the Alfonso goal.

The Pacers would cut the deficit to 6-4 following two quick goals.  The momentum swung back to the Hawks as Anthony Alfonso flipped the pass behind his back to find Austin Lee for a goal.

Nick Lavoy found the back of the net in succession grabbing feeds from Josh Nicholson and Anthony Alfonso to push the advantage to 9-4.

Noah Holloway and Nick Lavoy found the back of the net in the final two minutes of the half.  Xavier Wingfield assisted on the Lavoy goal to lead 11-4 at the break.

Third Quarter:

Anthony Alfonso would break the ice in the half scoring an unassisted goal with 8:29 remaining in the quarter.  The Pacers would tally two goals to cut the deficit in half, 12-6.  Alfonso would score off a Skylar Briscoe pass before finding the back of the net again following the Hawks' face-off win.

Noah Holloway scored the final tally in the quarter with a minute remaining.

Fourth Quarter:

RJ Foster countered the WPU goal before Noah Holloway assisted on the next three goals for the Hawks finding Alex Clabaugh, Nick Lavoy and Anthony Alfonso to push the advantage to 19-8.

Austin Lee would tally the final goal of the contest for the Hawks off a pass from Nick Lavoy.

WPU scored twice to end the contest to close the gap to 20-12.

Chowan will travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. to face Emmanuel in a Conference Carolinas contest on Saturday, April 14.  Opening face-off is at 1pm.
