MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team jumped back into the win column with a 10-6 victory over Wilmington (Del.) on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Anthony Alfonso netted a hat-trick in the win. Alfonso tallied three goals and had one assist. Noah Holloway chipped in with two goals and two assists. Alex Clabaugh posted two goals and one assist. Nick Lavoy scored twice.
Jacob Ferretta caused five turnovers. Austin Lee picked up eight ground balls.
DJ Walker was strong in goal stopping 19 shots to pick up the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Chowan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the period as Noah Holloway found the back of the net for the early lead.
Nick Lavoy scored his 22nd goal of the season to push the Hawks in front 2-0.
Second Quarter:
Noah Holloway found Alex Clabaugh for a man-up goal just 30 seconds into the second period to lead 3-0.
The Hawks continued to push ahead as Anthony Alfonso found Noah Holloway for the goal. Alfonso would push the advantage to 5-0 scoring an unassisted goal.
Wilmington broke the shutout with just over minutes to play in the half. Less than a minute later, Alex Clabaugh scored to keep the advantage at five, 6-1.
The Wildcats tallied a goal at the buzzer to trail 6-2 at intermission.
Third Quarter:
Wilmington scored coming out of the half before back-to-back man-up goals by the Hawks moved the score to 8-3. Josh Nicholson assisted on Nick Lavoy's goal at the 10 minute mark. Alex Clabaugh found Anthony Alfonso for the final goal during the stretch.
Austin Lee countered the Wildcat goal, scoring off a pass from Noah Holloway.
Fourth Quarter:
Chowan struck quickly in the final period as Jacob Ferretta picked up the ground ball off the face-off and sprint up field. Ferretta found Anthony Alfonso for the goal just 13 seconds into the quarter.
Wilmington scored twice in the quarter but DJ Walker kept the Wildcats from cutting into the lead anymore.
