PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped a pair of contests against UNC Pembroke on the road on Tuesday evening.

Harry Markotay went 5-7 with two doubles in the first contest and improved his hitting streak to 11 games. Julian Lopez went 2-3 in the nightcap with a double and two RBI.
Nick Rose tallied three RBI on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 6, UNC Pembroke 15
Harry Markotay picked up a single up the middle to start the contest but couldn't string anything together in the opening inning.
UNC Pembroke scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on two walks and a double. The Braves opened the contest open in the bottom of the third inning with 11 runs on two errors by the Hawks.
Chowan responded with five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Harry Markotay started off the inning with a double down the right field line. Marquise Lanier continued the trend with a double to left to score Markotay. Singles by Julian Lopez and Nick Rose scored Lanier before Trent Brosdahl doubled to left score Lopez. Rose would score from third on a ground out, while Brosdahl came around to score on a wild pitch.
Anthony Jefferson started off the fifth inning with a walk and moved to third on Harry Markotay's double to center. Jefferson would score on Nick Rose's fielder's choice.
The Braves scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning to take the contest 15-6.
Game Two: Chowan 7, UNC Pembroke 8
Chowan rebounded in the nightcap with three runs in the opening inning to spark the rally. Harry Markotay extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single to right to start the contest. Marquise Lanier singled to left before Markotay and Lanier came around to score on Julian Lopez' double to left. Nick Rose singled to left center to bring home Lopez for the 3-0 advantage.
UNC Pembroke trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the second inning as three straight hits plated two runs for the Braves.
The Hawks would respond in the top of the third inning with a four run frame to lead 7-3. Marquise Lanier started the inning with a double to left center. Julian Lopez drew a full count walk before performing a double steal with Lanier. Trent Brosdahl singled to score Lanier before Robert Williams welcomed the new pitcher with a double to left center to score a pair. Harley Davidson drew a walk and Trenton Lee singled to load the bases. Harry Markotay would plate the final run of the inning with a RBI walk.
The Braves looked to rally in the later innings with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to close the deficit to 7-5.
Harry Markotay kept his hot bat going with a base hit to right to start off the sixth inning. Julian Lopez singled through the right side of the infield with one out to push Markotay into scoring position. A ground out and strikeout ended the threat.
UNCP would put together a rally in the sixth inning as a one-out hit by pitch sparked the rally to plate the tying runs.
Anthony Jefferson picked up a single in the seventh inning but a double play ended the inning.
The Braves would walk off the contest in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to win 8-7.

The Hawks will host Barton on April 3 in a nine-inning contest for the second meeting of the season. First pitch is slated for 2pm.
