MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team used late rallies to keep the Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) winless on the season and kept the unbeaten streak alive with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Chowan Baseball moves to 30-0 all-time against Lincoln (Pa.).
Harry Markotay extended his hitting streak to nine games after going 4-8 in the doubleheader with two doubles and six RBI.
Robert Williams went 3-4 in the opening contest to pace the Hawks. Anthony Jefferson and Marquise Lanier picked up two hits on the afternoon.
Nick Rose picked up a hit and drew three walks on the afternoon to extend his on base streak to 15 contests.
The bullpen for the Hawks was solid going 8.2 innings allowing two runs (unearned) off six hits. Trenton Lee picked up the win in the first contest after Daniel Whitener tossed 4.1 innings in relief. Vinny Puma picked up the win out of the pen tossing 2.2 innings and struck out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 11, Lincoln (Pa.) 10
Lincoln (Pa.) was the aggressor in the opening innings of the contest scoring two runs on four hits and an error in the first inning. The Lions took advantage of the free passes and an error in the second inning scoring eight runs to extend the lead to 10-0.
Nick Rose drew a walk in the bottom of the second inning for the first base runner of the contest for the Hawks. Robert Williams drew a walk before Tyler Jones doubled home Rose for the first run. Trenton Lee hit a sacrifice fly to score Williams. Harry Markotay doubled down the third base line to cut the deficit to 10-3.
The Hawks would keep chipping away at the deficit in the third as Julian Lopez was hit by a pitch and swiped second. A walk and an error loaded the bases with two outs. Trenton Lee and Anthony Jefferson drew the free passes to plate two runs before Harry Markotay cleared the bases with a double to trim the deficit to 10-8.
Trent Brosdahl brought home a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Lions' outfielder couldn't handle to catch allowing Nick Rose, who walked in the inning, come around to score.
Julian Lopez started the rally in the bottom of the sixth inning that allowed the Hawks to knot the score at 10-all. Lopez drew a walk and swiped second before Robert Williams reached on an infield single. Lopez and Williams successfully performed the double steal allowing Trent Brosdahl for the sacrifice fly to plate Lopez.
Lincoln (Pa.) looked to plate their first run since the second inning in the top of the seventh inning as Daniel Whitener ran into some trouble with two on and two out. Trenton Lee threw four pitches to get out of the jam.
Anthony Jefferson battled to reach on a full-count walk with one out. Jefferson swiped second to put himself in scoring position before Harry Markotay picked up his third hit of the contest with a single through the left side of the infield to walk off the first contest, 11-10.
Game Two: Chowan 6, Lincoln 5
Lincoln (Pa.) would strike first in the top of the third inning on two hits and two free passes to take a 2-0 lead.
Chowan would counter in the bottom of the fourth inning as Nick Rose and Robert Williams started off the inning with a pair of walks. Corey Bolam picked up an infield single to score Rose before Nicholas Lees singled to left to knot the contest at 2-all. Anthony Jefferson singled to left before Harry Markotay's sacrifice fly gave the Hawks a 4-2 advantage.
The lead would not hold for long as Lincoln (Pa.) scored three times on two hits and two Hawks' miscues to regain the lead 5-4.
Nick Rose and Robert Williams picked up hits in the fifth put would be left stranded.
The Lions would make a pitching change in the bottom of the sixth opening the door for the Hawks. Anthony Jefferson singled to left center to spark a rally. Harry Markotay executed a hit-and-run allowing Jefferson to scamper to third on the single to right. Markotay would swipe second base before Marquise Lanier singled to score Jefferson and Markotay for the tying and go-ahead runs.
Vinny Puma picked up two strikeouts in the seventh to close the door on the Lions for the win.
