ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team continued their winning ways with a sweep of CIAA opponents on day two of the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Elizabeth City State on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks hit seven home runs on the day including two by Beth Walker and Lindsey Stigler. Kris Neal, Haley Cooper, and Miranda Glover tallied a long ball in the contests.
Lindsey Stigler went 3-6 on the day with two home runs and six RBI. Haley Cooper recorded six RBI on the day.
Kris Neal, Beth Walker, and Brittany Parson picked up three hits on the afternoon.
Shannon Buchanan and Shelby Griffis picked up wins for the Hawks. Buchanan tossed a complete game shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan 12, St. Augustine's 3
Kris Neal put the Hawks on the board early as Neal, the first batter of the contest, hit a solo home run to left field.
St. Augustine's scored one in the bottom of the inning to even the contest.
Chowan would grab control of the contest in the third inning as Lindsey Stigler hit a grand slam to put the Hawks up 5-1. Miranda Glover started the inning with a walk. Haley Cooper would load the bases on a fielder's choice before the long ball.
A solo shot for the Falcons trimmed the deficit to 5-2 in the third inning.
The Hawks would open the contest wide in the fourth inning scoring five runs off three hits and one error to lead 10-2. Donya Salman reached on a muffed throw and moved to third on a stolen base and passed ball. Salman and Neal, who reached on a walk, would score on a Haley Cooper base hit. Lindsey Stigler doubled down the left field line and came around to score on a wild pitch and passed ball.
Beth Walker singled and scored to bring the contest to 10-2. The Hawks would tack on two more runs in the fifth inning to lead 12-2. St. Augustine's cut into the deficit slightly in the fifth inning, 12-3, before falling in the contest.
Chowan 10, Shaw 0
The Hawks posted four runs in the bottom of the first to jump out to an early 4-0 lead. Kris Neal led off with an error by the outfielder. Neal scored on a Haley Cooper single before Lindsey Stigler reached on an error. Beth Walker hit her first home run of the contest to give the Hawks a 4-0 advantage.
Back-to-back home runs by Lindsey Stigler and Beth Walker advanced the lead to 6-0 with one out. Brittany Parson and Donya Salman reached base and moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Molly Rosenthal loaded the bases on an infield single. Miranda Glover hit a sacrifice fly to push lead to 7-0.
Haley Cooper extended the lead to 9-0 in the bottom of the third inning with a home run to right center bringing home Kris Neal, who singled before the long ball. Miranda Glover hit her first home run of her career in the bottom of the fourth inning.
