MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped a pair of contest to Goldey-Beacom, 7-1 and 10-7, on Saturday.

Nick Rose and Robert Williams tallied three hits each. Harry Markotay posted two hits. Williams and Marquise Lanier hit a home run in the loss.
Cody Smith took the loss in game one after a strong start going 6.0 innings allowing five runs off five hits.
Ryan Gallaccio tossed 3.0 innings of relief allowing two hits and struck out seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 1, Goldey-Beacom 7
Cody Smith made quick work of the Lightning in the first inning posting two strikeouts.
Marquise Lanier hit the first pitch he saw over the wall in left field to take a 1-0 lead.
The Lightning opened the contest open in the third inning scoring five runs in the inning.
Nick Rose tallied the final hit for the Hawks in the contest. Goldey-Beacom added two runs in the top of the seventh to lead 7-1.
Game Two: Chowan 7, Goldey-Beacom 10
Goldey-Beacom started the game strong scoring four runs off two hits and two errors.
The Hawks countered with four runs in the bottom of the second to knot the contest at four-all. Robert Williams led off the inning with a first-pitch home run. Nick Rose and Tyler Jones doubled to trim the deficit to 4-2. Jones advanced to third following a failed pick off attempt. Anthony Jefferson hit a sacrifice fly to score Jones. Harry Markotay singled to bring in Corey Bolam, Bolam walked and stole second in the inning.
Chowan would take the lead 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Two errors in the inning by the Lightning allowed Harry Markotay and Julian Lopez to reach. Robert Williams singled to right to score Markotay and send Lopez to third. Nick Rose singled through the right side to score Williams and Lopez.
GBC answered with five runs in the top of the sixth to regain the lead 9-7. Three free-passes loaded the bases before a double and a home run took the lead.
The Lightning added a run in the seventh to push their lead to 10-7.
