CU Basketball Hosts Lincoln In Annual Play4Kay

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball host Lincoln (Pa.) in the final home game of season on Wednesday, February 21.  The contest will be the 10th Annual Play4Kay event and Senior Night.

Women's Basketball (Game Notes)

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan was tripped up by Bowie State over the weekend in a CIAA Northern Division contest.  The Hawks dropped to 18-6 on the season and 10-4 in league play.  CU is sitting in third in the CIAA Northern Division with a 5-3 record.

The Hawks slid to eighth in the recent D2SIDA Atlantic Regional poll and was ranked ninth in the opening NCAA Atlantic Regional poll.

The Blue and White is led by seniors Dhyamond Crenshaw and Chantel Roberts.  Roberts has been the hot hand for the Hawks averaging a double-double, 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the month of February.  Roberts is also averaging a double-double in CIAA play.  Crenshaw is recording 16.6 points per contest.

Mariah Coker chips in with 11.9 points and 5.5 assists per contest.  Danielle Weldon adds to the mix with 10.9 points and 7.1 rebounds a game.

LIONS FACTS
Lincoln is 15-9 on the season and 9-5 in CIAA play.  The Lions went 9-20 last season.  Lincoln is on a two game slide falling to Virginia Union over the weekend.

Teira Pendleton leads the Lions with 14.5 points a game.  Michelle Fitzgerald posts 8.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals a night.

Men's Basketball (Game Notes)

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan continued with their strong play picking up their third win in a row with an 86-83 victory over Bowie State to improve to 11-13 on the season and 5-9 in CIAA action.

The Hawks have four players in double-figures this season.  Tim Hewett leads the Hawks with 16.2 points per night. Demetrius Sanders has tallied three straight 20+ point outings to up his average to 14.4 points a game.  Robert Grubbs adds 13.3 along with Gus Rowland at 12.1 a night.

Demetrius Sanders and Gus Rowland were honored by the CIAA for their efforts last week.

Dino Muminovic has wreaked havoc in the paint all season as the transfer has produced 65 blocks so far this season. Muminovic is four shy from tying the DII program record for a career.


LIONS FACTS
Lincoln enters the contest with an 11-13 overall record and 6-8 in league action.  The Lions held the Hawks to their lowest scoring output of the season in the first meeting winning 58-45.

Gevon Arrington leads the pack with 12.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals a game.
