FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion used three strong innings to take an 11-5 win over the Chowan Baseball team in game one of the series in Florence, S.C.

Trent Brosdahl led the team going 3-5 at the plate with two RBI. Harry Markotay picked up two hits and scored twice. Robert Williams tallied two hits.
Nick Rose added two RBI with a double. Corey Fago took the loss tossing 3.0 innings allowing five runs (four earned) off two hits and three walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan scored in the opening frame of the contest as Harry Markotay singled to start the game. Markotay would end up at third after a ground out and a passed ball. Trent Brosdahl brought home Markotay after an eight pitch at-bat with a base knock up the middle.
Robert Williams followed with a single to center before Tyler Jones reach on an error to load the bases with two outs. Harley Davidson would fly out to end the inning.
Francis Marion answered in the bottom of the first inning with three runs on two hits and an error to lead 3-1.
Jack Downum sparked a rally in the top of the second inning with a lead-off triple. Anthony Jefferson reached via a hit-by-pitch and swiped second base. Marquise Lanier brought home Downum as a fielding error by the Patriots continued the inning. Lanier stole second before Nick Rose doubled down the right field line to score Jefferson and Lanier for the 4-3 advantage.
The Patriots mounted a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs to take a 6-4 lead. The first two batters of the inning reached on a free pass. Two singles and a fielder's choice allowed three runs to score.
Francis Marion looked to add to their lead in the bottom of the fifth as the Patriots loaded the bases on miscues by the Hawks. Trenton Lee picked up two strikeouts and a groundout to end the threat to keep the deficit at 6-4.
Tyler Jones and Harley Davidson started the sixth inning with back-to-back hits but a strikeout and pick off ended the threat.
Harry Markotay reached on an error to start the seventh. Markotay would move up 90 feet on a passed ball. Nick Rose drew a one out walk before Trent Brosdahl singled up the middle to score Markotay. Robert Williams singled to load the bases but a fielder's choice ended the rally with the Hawks trailing 6-5.
Francis Marion extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning on three hits to take a 10-5 lead. The Patriots added a tally in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Harry Markotay and Trent Brosdahl picked up base hits in the final inning to end the game.
