MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The baseball was flying out of the park during the doubleheader against Lock Haven on Saturday as the Chowan Baseball team split the final day falling 15-7 and picking up the win in the night cap 11-5.

Marquise Lanier had the hot bat going 3-5 at the plate with two long balls and three walks.
Anthony Jefferson and Harry Markotay tallied three hits each. Both Jefferson and Markotay hit home runs. Robert Williams hit a home run in the night cap.
Tyler Jones, Harry Markotay, Nick Rose, and Marquise Lanier posted three RBI apiece.
Will Edwards picked up the win in the night cap tossing 4.0 innings allowing five runs (two earned) off four hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game Three: Chowan 7, Lock Haven 15
Lock Haven looked to put up a run in the top of the first inning posting two runners on base. Bailey Lipscomb got out of the jam with a strikeout and a line out as Marquise Lanier dove down the line to end the inning.
Harry Markotay reached in the bottom of the first inning on an error before Marquise Lanier hit a home run to left field to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.
The Eagles closed the gap to 2-1 with a solo home run to start the second inning.
Harley Davidson tried to get the run back for the Hawks with a one-out triple to right center. Davidson would be stranded in scoring position.
The top of the third inning was tough for the Hawks as the Eagles scored nine runs off six hits and an error to take hold of the contest 10-2.
Marquise Lanier brought the Hawks a run closer to open the bottom of the third with a solo shot to left center. Robert Williams drew a walk and Tyler Jones singled to keep the inning going. Both would advance 90 feet on a passed ball but would be stranded.
Lock Haven extended their lead to 12-3 on a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Chowan inched closer in the bottom of the inning thanks to two errors by the Eagles to produce one run. The Hawks would score two in the bottom of the fifth on a two RBI double by Harry Markotay after the Eagles added two runs in the top of the inning.
Tyler Jones doubled home Noah Cartwright, who singled to lead off the inning, for the final tally for the Hawks.
Another solo home run for the Eagles gave Lock Haven the 15-7 victory.
Game Four: Chowan 11, Lock Haven 5
Lock Haven put two hits together in the top of the first inning scoring a run off a throwing error for the early 1-0 lead.
Chowan countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. Harry Markotay started off the attack with a single up the middle. Markotay advanced to third on a balk and a wild pitch. Following a Marquise Lanier walk, Nick Rose brought in Markotay on a single to center. Lanier would come around to score on a wild pitch and throwing error by the catcher. Trent Brosdahl recorded a RBI ground out to score Rose.
The Hawks' 3-1 score would stand until the bottom of the third inning as Chowan added three more runs to their total. Marquise Lanier started off the inning with a single to left field. Lanier swiped second and scored on Nick Rose's single up the middle. Trent Brosdahl put Rose into scoring position with a single through the left side of the infield before the two completed the double steal. Corey Bolam singled to bring home a run after a RBI ground out by Tyler Jones for the 6-1 lead.
Lock Haven fought back to trim the deficit to one, 6-5, after a four run fourth inning. The Hawks had three errors in the inning as the Eagles produced two hits.
The one run lead would not stay for long as Harry Markotay hit a solo shot to left field. Marquise Lanier would end up a second after a walk and a stolen base. Lanier would get in under the tag at third on a fielder's choice by Trent Brosdahl. Tyler Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score Lanier.
Robert Williams would extend the Hawks' lead to 10-5 with a two run homer to right center.
Anthony Jefferson provided the final run of the contest with a home run down the left field line. The contest would end after the fifth inning because of darkness.

Chowan travels to Francis Marion for a two game series starting on Tuesday, February 13. The Hawks and Patriots will play a nine inning contest on Tuesday with the series wrapping up on Wednesday with another nine inning contest. First pitch is at 5pm on Tuesday.
