HAWKS FILES
Chowan enters the contest with a 5-4 overall record after holding off UNC Pembroke, 57-55, on December 4.
Danielle Weldon leads the team with 14.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per night. Jada Lee and Mariah Coker are scoring in double-figures as well for the Hawks.
Jordan Pettaway and Joanne Williams round out the top-five scoring with 7.7 and 6.4 points per game. Williams adds 7.9 rebounds per game to her scoring output.
BUCKING THE BRONCOS
Fayetteville State is 3-3 on the season and 1-2 away from home. The Broncos fell to UNC Wilimington, 72-54, in an exhibition contest on December 1.
Aminata Johnson and Brittany Drumgoole lead the Broncos with 12.2 and 10.7 points respectively.
CAGING THE BEARS
Shaw is 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in the CIAA. The Bears will face Elizabeth City State on Thursday before heading to Murfreesboro.
Tahniya Sweatt and KlinTisha Martin are the leading scorers for the Bears. Both are in the top-5 in the CIAA in scoring at 20.3 and 17.2 points per game.
CLIPPING THE FALCONS
St. Augustine's is 2-4 overall thus far in the season and 1-1 in the CIAA. The Falcons will face Virginia State and Elizabeth City State before heading to the Helms Center.
Angela Caraballo is the lone double-digit scorer for the Falcons. SAU scores 63.2 points per game collectively.
SERIES MEETINGS
Chowan holds the advantage against Fayetteville State, 9-5, and has won the past five meetings including both meetings last season in Fayetteville.
The Hawks trail in the series against Shaw, 8-4, but Chowan has picked up the last two contests including an 82-70 victory last season on the road.
Chowan regained the advantage in the series last season with three wins against St. Augustine's. The Hawks have won the last seven meetings after defeating the Falcons, 75-70, in the CIAA Tournament last season.
