FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team was handed a 3-0 setback on the road in non-conference action at Francis Marion on Tuesday evening.

Milica Vejnovic led the Hawks offensively with 11 kills.  Courtney O'Keefe chipped in with seven.
Micayla Pope notched another double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs.  Alyssa Born tallied 20 digs.
Breona Young registered four kills and four total blocks in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Chowan kept pace with Francis Marion early in the set.  Courtney O'Keefe and Sydney Hiner notched kills early as Milica Vejnovic posted three kills to trail 9-8.
A service ace by Micayla Pope forced a timeout by the Patriots, cutting the deficit to 12-11.  The Patriots would open the set up to 15-11 before a block by Raven Finley-Flowers and Breona Young followed by a service ace by Sydney Hiner closed the gap slightly.
FMU pushed ahead 21-15 to force a Chowan timeout.  The Patriots would take the set 25-17.
Second Set:
Chowan would lead 4-2 early gathering kills by Milica Vejnvoic, Courtney O'Keefe, and Micayla Pope.
The Hawks and Patriots would swap points in the middle of the set until 17-all.  FMU rattled off five straight points to take hold of the set, 22-17.  Breona Young registered a kill before the Patriots took the set 25-19.
Third Set:
After leading 3-2 on a Courtney O'Keefe block, the Patriots used a 10-3 run to force a timeout.  Breona Young and Milica Vejnovic recorded a kill each during the offensive stall.
Courtney O'Keefe tried to get the offense moving, but the Patriots would push their lead to 17-9.
Two kills by Milica Vejnovic continued the set for the Hawks.  Raven Finley-Flowers posted a kill along with a kill and block by Breona Young tallied the final points for the Hawks.  Francis Marion took the set and match 25-16.

Chowan will step back into CIAA Northern Division action as the Hawks travel north to face Lincoln (Pa.) and Bowie State on Friday and Saturday, October 26-27.
