WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road against Barton in a non-conference dual on Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Courtney O'Keefe led all swingers with 13 kills and hit .346. The team hit a set high .571 in the third set.
Breona Young tallied seven kills, while Milica Vejnovic and Kayla Gates posted seven and six kills respectively. Vejnovic added a team-high 14 digs.
Micayla Pope recorded 32 assists and eight digs on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
The set showed similar stats with the difference being attack errors as Barton tallied five with the Hawks posted 10 errors.
Sydney Hiner tallied the opening kill for the Hawks. Breona Young, Courtney O'Keefe, and Micayla Pope recorded a kill to put the Hawks up 5-2 early.
Barton rallied to even the match at 8-all, before the teams matched points until Courtney O'Keefe sparked a four point rally for the Hawks to lead 14-11. O'Keefe registered back-to-back kills with Sydney Hiner finished off the rally with a block.
Following a kill by Milica Vejnovic at 16-15, Barton would push ahead to lead 19-16 and then took the set 25-18.
Second Set:
Chowan trailed early in the set as Barton led 13-4 forcing a timeout. Back-to-back kills by Courtney O'Keefe slowed the attack a bit, but the Bulldogs pushed their advantage to 20-7.
Micayla Pope served up an ace to close the gap to 20-11 but the Bulldogs took the set 25-12.
Third Set:
Barton jumped out to an early 7-1 lead as Milica Vejnovic tallied the lone kill. The Hawks would start chipping away with Breona Young, Kayla Gates, and Sydney Hiner registering a kill each.
Milica Vejnovic notched back-to-back kills to trim the deficit to 12-11. Vejnovic served up two aces to tie the set at 14-all.
Courtney O'Keefe and Sydney Hiner tallied a rejection to give the Hawks the 16-14 lead and forced a timeout by Barton.
Courtney O'Keefe, Micayla Pope, and Milica Vejnovic led the Hawks to a 25-19 set victory.
Fourth Set:
Both teams would swap points early as both teams traded small leads until Barton pulled away following a 14-all tie. Five straight points by Barton forced a timeout, 19-14.
A couple of errors and a kill and block by Courtney O'Keefe along with a service ace by Sydney Hiner closed the gap to 21-19.
Barton would find the final few points to take the set and match.
