SALISBURY, N.C. - The Chowan Volleyball team ended the Catawba Invitational with a loss against Catawba, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Chowan was led offensively by
Milica Vejnovic with a near double-double posting nine kills and 12 digs.
Kayla Gates posted a career-high 12 digs.
Karisa Patterson dished out 18 assists and five digs.
Sydney Bell tallied four kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Set | Chowan 19, Catawba 25
Courtney O'Keefe registered the first kill for the Hawks early in set one as both teams battled back-and-forth through the set.
The Hawks led 15-13 midway through the set before the Indians used a 5-0 run to take an 18-15 lead forcing a Chowan timeout.
Milica Vejnovic would cut the deficit to 21-19 with a kill to end the Catawba run.  The Indians would finish the set with a four point rally.

Kayla Gates, and Karisa Patterson kept the Hawks close with the Indians to start the set.
With the Hawks trailing 7-6, Catawba pushed their lead to 12-6 and later pushed their advantage to 19-12.
Back-to-back kills by Milica Vejnovic pushed the Hawk attack forward to cut into the deficit 21-17.
Catawba found the final four points of the set to take a 2-0 advantage.
3rd Set | Chowan 13, Catawba 25
Chowan kept the set close in the beginning grabbing a service ace from
Courtney O'Keefe.
Catawba used a 11-2 run to push the contest out of reach for the Hawks.  Milica Vejnovic halted the run with a kill.

Chowan will open their home season with a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 5 against Barton.  First serve is at 5pm.
