Box Score 2 PEMBROKE, NC - The Chowan University softball team moved to 29-17 after splitting a non-conference twin bill at UNC-Pembroke on Wednesday afternoon. Chowan won game one 5-1 but fell 6-5 in an extra inning thriller in game two.

Tina White got the scoring started in the Hawks first at-bat when she plated
Katrina Simmons on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. Chowan plated a run in the top of the 2nd and
Kris Neal spread the score to 3-0 with a solo homerun in the top fo the 3rd frame. The Braves plated their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a fielder's choice.
Danielle Baccus drove in a run on a double and White tallied an RBI single in the top of the 5th inning to help secure the 5-1 win.
Kayla Robins picked up her 18th of the year after holding UNC-Pembroke to three hits. She struck out nine batters to run her season total to 280 strikeouts.

The Hawks suffered a tough 6-5 nine innings loss in the night cap game. After being held scoreless through six at-bats, the Hawks posted four runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 4-3 lead. UNC-Pembroke knotted the game a 4-4 in their final at-bat to send the game into extra innings. The two teams scored runs in their respective at-bats in the 8th inning for a 5-5 tie, forcing a 9th inning. UNC-Pembroke held the Hawks off the board in the top of the 9th and plated a run in the bottom of the frame for the 6-5 win.
Shannon Buchanon suffered the loss on the mound. She threw all nine innings of game two. She struck out two batters and gave up four earned runs.
Katrina Simmons went 3-4 at the plate with two RBI. Baccus collected two hits and drove in a run.
The Hawks will take off a week before getting back to action on April 22nd at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
