Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-2 decision to Belmont-Abbey College in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders improved to 5-5 overall and 4-1 in league play while the Hawks fell to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Belmont-Abbey jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Hawks posted a goal.
Alexandria Hammonds scored an unassisted goal at the 3:50 mark of the period to get the Hawks on the board. She added the Hawks only other score in the game with just under seven minutes to play on a free position shot.
The Crusaders out shot the Hawks 28-8 over sixty minutes of play. Chowan picked up 10 ground balls to Belmont-Abbey's 23 and were 6 of 10 in clears. The Crusaders were led by Rebecca Stromberg who scored a match-high five goals.
Chowan will get back to action on Wednesday, March 29th with a non-conference game against Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.
