MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University men's and women's basketball teams will host Virginia State University on Wednesday, February 8th in a CIAA Northern Division match up. The athletic department will host the 9th Annual Play4Kay Cancer Awareness game in conjunction with Wednesday's doubleheader. 

The women's team enters Wednesday's match up at 15-7 overall and 8-4 in the CIAA. The Hawks are coming off a 66-51 win over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday. Chowan had nine out of ten players score in the victory. Dhyamond Crenshaw tallied 12 points for the Hawks while Courtni Williams added 11 points and three steals. Jada Lee chipped in ten points and four boards in the match-up. Chowan beat Virginia State 64-55 in the first match up of the season. Jordan Payne scored 19 points and had nine rebounds in the win. Chowan currently sits in second place in the CIAA North behind #7 ranked Virginia Union University. The Lady Trojans enter Wednesday's contest at 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the CIAA. They currently sit in fourth place in the CIAA Northern Division, behind Virginia Union, Chowan, and Bowie State. 

The Chowan men's program enters Wednesday's match up at 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the CIAA. They sit in third place in the CIAA Northern Division behind Virginia Union University and Virginia State University respectively. The Hawks are coming off a 79-65 road win over Ellizabeth City State University on Saturday. The Hawks shot 53% from the field in route to the fourteen point win. Marco Haskins hit for a game-high 19 points on a 7-10 shooting performance. The Trojans and the Hawks met earlier in the season, with VSU coming away with an 80-54 win. The Trojans come into the match up at 18-4 overall and 10-2 in the league. They have one divisional loss, which came to Virginia Union University last week.
