Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University women's lacrosse team suffered a tough 15-12 loss at the hands of Alderson Broaddus University in their home season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks moved to 1-1 on the year while the Battlers improved to 2-0. 

Chowan battled in the first half, even taking a two-goal lead. But the Battlers battled back into the game and took a 10-8 into halftime. Alderson Broaddus scored five second half goals to spread their lead and get the eventual 15-12 win. The Hawks scored three goals late in the game to cut into the Battlers lead but their comeback attempt fell just short. 

Heather Orell scored a game-high five goals while teammate Alexandria Hammonds scored four goals. Jennifer Caird scored three goals. Shaena Ravenell had six saves in the match. 

Chowan will hit the field again on Wednesday, March 1st when Ferrum comes to Murfreesboro for a 3:30pm.
