CHARLOTTE, NC - The Chowan University men's basketball team will open play at the 2017 CIAA Basketball Tournament on Thursday, February 23rd. The Hawks earned a first round bye after picking up the #3 seed out of the CIAA North. Chowan will face off against #2 out of the CIAA South, Livingstone College. Tip off is slated for 1:00pm at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
Chowan and Livingstone met earlier in the year in Salisbury with Chowan coming away with a 95-77 cross-divisional win. These two teams have met 10 times since the 2009 season and both have won an even number of times against one another (5-5).
Marco Haskins poured in 21 points for Chowan after hitting 8-11 from the floor, including four made three point shots.
Joe Goodwin also hit for 20 points in the win. The winner of today's 1:00pm game will advance to play Friday, February 24th at 7:00pm in the semi-finals. The winner will face off against the winner of the Bowie State-Virginia Union match up being played Thursday at 7:00pm.
